Hello,

It’s clear that our politicians are out to get us, and we have to be vigilant all the time. It’s exhausting.

Case in point: the following story may seem to apply only to people in our area of the Gold Coast, but the sad truth is that it applies to everyone, so we hope you will take it to heart and pass it on to your friends.

Our Councilor, developer-lover Ted Shepherd, is moving his office 12 kilometres from Nerang, to our peaceful village of Mudgeeraba, and he wants us hostage rate payers to foot the $500,000 bill. Yes, you read it right.

Why so expensive? Because he wants high connection speeds for his computers and has to have a 23-metre microwave tower nearby. Ron Clarke, our Mayor, and Peter Young, our Sustainable City Future Chairman, have slammed him for the expense. And so do we! Peter Young said ‘I don’t see why he can’t just use an ADSL connection.’ Indeed. The rest of us get along with that very well. This is particularly galling now, when people are struggling to keep their heads above water.

As Gold Coast Bulletin reporter, Robyn Wuth, says, ‘I’m shocked Ted Shepherd even knows what a megabyte is, or how to switch on a computer’ Given the incredibly slow rate the council bureaucracy works, why would he need it? ‘ This is the kind of self-indulgent spending that makes ratepayers irate. I want my money back.’ Me too!

The Gold Coast Bulletin was most unsupportive, and so they should be. They did not, however, make a peep about the extreme, proven dangers of microwave towers. Haven’t any of them heard about cancer clusters? Does anyone in government or the establishment media care? Obviously, they don’t, but we should, and it is important that we all make waves when the ‘bad guys’ decide to install these killers near our homes and our schools and our work places.

Ratepayers are already paying a premium for Shepherd’s air travel, since his girth renders him incapable of fitting into airline seats. Perhaps I should send Councilor Shepherd a complimentary copy of my book?

Please forward this to your friends and keep everyone alert to political and industry machinations that destroy our health.

Yours in good health
