And I’m speaking from 48 years of clinical experience as a Traditional Naturopath. I’ve used it with many patients and on my own body for both active infections and whenever feeling like a cold or flu is coming on (you know that feeling in the throat when you swallow). In such cases of active infection, with this remedy, the symptoms are typically gone within the first 72 hours—usually within 24-48 hours). Supertonic Formula
A Potent Anti-Viral, Anti-Bacterial, and Anti-Fungal

This is the famous “anti-plague formula” popularized (more recently) by Drs. Richard Schulze and John Christopher. Many swear it is the cure for the common cold. The basic formula goes back to the “Black (Bubonic) Plague” era of medieval Europe. It is anti-viral, anti-fungal, and destroys harmful bacteria, leaving the friendlies. A broad-spectrum probiotic, it also increases circulation to every cell.

As a tincture, the Supertonic Formula is simple and easy to make in your kitchen. A tincture is a liquid extract where fluid is used to draw out and concentrate the medicinal properties of plants. The most common substances used for extracting these properties are either apple cider vinegar or vodka (by law, vodka can only contain ethyl alcohol and water). This formula includes fresh juices of horseradish root, garlic, onion, ginger root, and chili peppers in a base of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar.

Ingredients:

  • 10 fresh jalapeno peppers (OR habaneros or cayenne peppers as substitutes)
  • 1 big handful of fresh ginger root
  • 1 full bulb of fresh garlic (with skin)
  • 1 whole white onion (cut in quarters)
  • 1 big chunk of fresh horseradish root (the size of your thumb)
  • 12 oz. or so of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar

Preparation:
Habanero peppers are available at local Mexican markets or farmer’s markets. (A mix of jalapenos, serrano, cayenne or other hot peppers will do.) Habaneros are the hottest, but jalapenos are likely the best peppers for this tonic. Take the tops off the peppers and drop them in the blender with the other ingredients. Next, pour in high quality raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar, to a little less than half the volume of the herbs.

Blend, adding more apple cider vinegar as needed. Don’t skimp or be frugal with the herbs. Use plenty. When the blended mix settles, the apple cider vinegar should cover the top of the herbs by about 1/4 of the total volume. You do not want more than the top 1/4 to be just liquid. Pour into a glass jar and place where you will see it daily (but not in direct sunlight). Shake it thoroughly each day. Allow at least 14 days for the extraction to take place. The longer you let a tincture brew, the stronger and more effective it will be. Brewing for several months is not uncommon.

Strain the mix through unbleached cotton and discard the solids. Label it Supertonic and keep it in your kitchen, medicine cabinet or fridge. It does not have to be refrigerated, but doing so will increase the shelf life. It should be good for at least a year. Feel free to make up a gallon or two at a time and share with family and friends.

The use of this formula is not limited to times of illness. When you feel low or need an energy pick-up, take 30 ml of it, gargle and swallow. It will bring positive changes.

Capsicum (via habaneros, cayenne or other chili peppers) goes to the heart, then moves the blood to the periphery.

Ginger goes to the extremities first, then returns.

Horseradish moves blood up to the head.

Garlic is the greatest natural anti-parasitic in the plant kingdom. It reduces hypertension, lowers high blood pressure, raises low blood pressure, reduces inflammation, lowers serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and reduces the build-up of atherosclerotic plaque in arteries.

Apple cider vinegar, although considered acidic on its own, will alkalize the blood and body. The vast majority of illnesses and toxic conditions are acidic.

Dosage: At the first sign of flu, cold, or other malaise, take 2 tablespoons every 2 hours until recovered. Have a small cup of pure water handy to chase the mixture. It is quite hot, but tasty. You can use it as the base for a nice salad dressing. Another way to take it: gargle three teaspoonsful and swallow 1 to 5 times daily as needed.
